Centre for Consciousness

The Centre for Consciousness focuses on the philosophy and the science of consciousness. A broad approach is taken to these issues, bringing in relevant work from numerous neighbouring areas of philosophy and of cognitive science.

The Centre, which was founded in 2004, is located within the internationally-renowned School of Philosophy in the ANU Research School of Social Sciences. The Centre is directed by Professor David Chalmers and includes faculty members of the School of Philosophy, post-doctoral fellows and postgraduate students. The Centre also regularly sponsors visitors from elsewhere in Australia and overseas.

Along with its ongoing research activities, the Centre organises a number of focused conferences and workshops every year.
